FUSE Animations and Movies Page

This page provides links to movies and animation files related to FUSE. Many files are quite large, so users with slow connections should think twice before viewing!

FUSE launch movie

This is a link to a movie of the FUSE launch supplied by the Kennedy Space Center in RealVideo format. You can download the RealVideo player software for free.

FUSE and the Milky Way

Page with animation and annotated stills of FUSE's view of the Milky Way and local universe.

What is Deuterium?

Links directly to animation showing the difference between normal hydrogen and "heavy hydrogen," or deuterium. Deuterium is not a separate element, but rather an isotope of hydrogen. Observing the spectral fingerprint of deuterium is one of the key science goals of the FUSE mission. (0.9 mB MOV file)

Download the CSA FUSE/FES animation

(4 MB AVI format file).

Animation shows FUSE on orbit, the light path through the instrument and to the Fine Error Sensor cameras.

GlobalStar Delta II, June 10, 1999, from CCAS pad 17B

The last launch BEFORE FUSE! (1.4 mB MOV file)

Delta II launch movies (courtesy of The Boeing Company):

(NOTE: Two formats are provided -- AVI works on most PC platforms and MOV (also known as Quicktime) which works on PCs, but also with `xanim' on most workstations.)

ACE launch from a camera mounted on the Delta II looking aft (Download: AVI file 2.7 mB, MOV file 1.2 mB).
